Chapter Strategy Discussion Session #2

Sunday, Mar 03

All XR Boston members are welcomed to join in a second strategy discussion session.

In December, many members of our chapter met to discuss two questions: What do we think about continuing with our No New Fossil Fuel Infrastructure campaign demand for the Commonwealth?, and *How can we as a chapter work more effectively toward generating mass civil disobedience to disrupt ‘business as usual’? *

These questions probed into aspects of our campaign demand, our messaging, our action strategy, and the way we organize ourselves. These conversations were valuable in understanding the challenges our chapter faces and how we may face them.

We would like to continue the threads of that previous discussion from December. Like last time, this will be a loosely facilitated discussion consisting of small group discussion followed by a large group harvest session. Note that this a space for open discussion and is not a time where decisions are made. An agenda will be shared well in advance to all who RSVP and will contain discussion topics.

We will begin at 5:00pm and wrap up by 7:30pm. This is in-person in the Rosa Parks Room at the Democracy Center in Cambridge. Food (vegan options) and beverages will be provided.

Covid policy per the Democracy Center: Masks and vaccination are encouraged but not required to attend. The Democracy Center runs air purifiers in the space at all times.

Accessibility

The Democracy Center is partially wheelchair accessible, on site bathroom is not ADA compliant. The Mandela, Parks, and Chavez rooms are accessible, but the Library is not. Wheelchair users are welcome to use the accessible restroom at Daedalus while we plan our improvements for bathroom accessibility. To reach that bathroom, exit the ramp and turn left on Bow St, at the next building (Daedalus) use their accessible entrance and their restroom will be on the right.
