Consumer Culture (Mild) Disruption

VARIOUS TIMES AND LOCATIONS AS NOTED BELOW:

XR Boston is hosting multiple actions on Saturday, December 14 at various shopping areas, as a gentle reminder to Christmas shoppers that there are alternatives to rampant consumer culture.

Please join one of our groups to participate. Action times are as noted.

IMPORTANT: Please sign up to receive specific meeting locations, dress code, and whether you need to bring anything. We will send out an update the night before to confirm meeting locations.

1) Harvard Smith Center, 1350 Mass Ave, Cambridge, meet at entrance, 2pm
Flash mob caroling. One or two songs per store, with flyering. Wear a Santa hat if you have one

2) Copley Mall, Boston, meet near Barney’s mall entrance, 12 noon
Concert of climate-related songs and participatory (modified) caroling. If you want to sing please meet us at Beacon Hill Friends House at 10am to practice. If you cannot make the practice meet us at noon at Copley Mall at the central area near Barney’s. (Green Bananas hosting)

3) The Shops at Chestnut Hill, meet at mall entrance to Uniqlo, 12 noon Modified caroling, with “Give the Gift of a Livable Planet” signs and coupons for non-commercial gifts. Wear all black, we will have Santa hats and signs, and coupons to hand out (Coral Reef hosting)

4) Cambridgeside Galleria, meet at food court, 2pm
Banner drop (High Tide/Fractals hosting)

5) Prudential Center, Corner of Ring Rd & Huntington (by California Pizza Kitchen), Boston, 1:30pm 11-minute public meditations for the 11 years remaining to cut emissions by 50% to keep temperature rise below 1.5 degrees C. Possible die-in. (Solar Wind hosting)
