The Seas Are Rising and So Are We: XR Mass Boat Making Workshop

Saturday, May 02

Come join us as we continue the XR Mass Boat Making Project with an online Boat Making Workshop on Saturday, May 2nd at 3:00pm. Bring your ideas, hopes, recycled paper and other materials. We will make boats together as we discuss what our boats symbolize and the world we want to create. Then on the launch your new rebels boats around your neighborhood and start to spread the word.

Our Boat Project is part of a larger campaign called by XR UK to celebrate the anniversary of the International April Rebellion. See the video: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2mbrce_rT0)

We plan to continue our Boat Making Project until the end of the COVID 19 crisis, introducing variations every few weeks. We hope it will spread from friend to friend and neighbor to neighbor and make people aware of the link between the health crisis and the climate crisis and spread the word about Extinction Rebellion.

Further guidelines:

You can start with simple paper boats or be more inventive, using cardboard or other materials like twigs to go more 3D.

Put Extinction Rebellion images and slogans on your boats (see suggestions below) plus xrmass.com, @xrboston and #xrmass.boatproject. Hang your boats using string on your porch or put them in your windows or infiltrate public spaces like parks and fences. Remember to take them down with heavy rains so we don’t add trash to our neighborhoods.

Take a picture or video of yourself with you boat, put it on @xrboston, #xrmass.boatproject and email it to us at: xr.boston.art@protonmail.com. If you make a video, share what your boat means to you.

Suggestions for slogans: The Sea Is Rising and So Are We, Rising Together/ Rise Together, Save Our Species (SOS), Chart a Just Course, Lift All Boats
