Making Change Through Listening

Wednesday, Dec 02

XR NYC Listening Circles Foundational Training

We believe making change starts with skillful listening. When we feel heard or seen, we're more open to hearing others. We all have this innate ability but in our high-speed world it requires some practice and some space to slow down and understand how to activate our natural capacity to listen.

Please join us for an introductory exploration and training on the powerful practice of active embodied listening. In this zoom session, we will learn about and explore active listening based on nonviolent communication and resonant empathy with guidance and support from a facilitator. We'll practice these skills in break-out groups.

We will be:

Learning to hold each other's experience with care and deep understanding

Developing a framework for understanding human communication through embodied needs and feeling

Understanding our nervous system and how we can ground to establish a base of listening

Developing foundations of embodied listening

Understanding blocks to empathy

Building a safe container to explore and cultivate active listening

For more information on the practice visit our website and/or Facebook page.

The training will be facilitated by Brother Man (Man means Fulfillment in Vietnamese). Brother Man was ordained as a Buddhist Monk by Thích Nhất Hạnh at Plum Village. He's currently training in Somatic Experiencing, loves learning, and integrating wisdom from many streams including Interpersonal Neurobiology and Non-violent Communication.

All are welcome. RSVP HERE.

5pm to 8pm EST

Please note - Eventbrite will connect you to the Zoom call. When you register you'll be given a link to join the event and it will become active when it begins.
