Invasive Vine Removal Stroll: Black Swallow-Wort

Sunday, Sep 26

Location: Meet at "Graffiti Alley" near HMart on Massachusetts Avenue

Time: Sunday, September 26th, 1:30 - 3pm

Take a stroll with XR activists and learn about black swallow-wort, an invasive vine species introduced to the North American continent by white Massachusetts gardeners. This plant causes a variety of environmental harms, including severe harm to Monarch Butterflies, who confuse the species for their needed milkweed when laying eggs. We'll pull up what we find, discuss disposal methods, and brainstorm alternative uses for the uprooted plants. Please bring water, gardening gloves and a black trash bag, if you have them.

Accessibility

Bus and subway accessible. Some of the sidewalks in this area are very narrow and bumpy, but we will aim for wider paths.
