Extinction Rebellion at the HONK! Festival

Saturday, Oct 12

Extinction Rebellion will be at the HONK! Festival’s Activist Artmaking Area in Davis Square. Elm Street will be closed down to make room for the public to make art with a purpose! XR rebels will be on hand with block prints and supplies; design and make your own flags, banners, t-shirts and patches, and then march with XR the next day in the HONK! Parade. We hope to mobilize 500 people for the parade – join us and bring your message to the streets.

XR is also helping develop a Day of the Dead Altar with artist Rosalba Solis. Inspired by Central American traditions, this altar will offer a place where we can mourn for all we have lost – the devastation of nature, extinction of animals, the refugee crisis and loss of homes, habitat and lives. Add your offering to the altar.

We also invite you to stencil images created by artist Sophy Tuttle about endangered and extinct species with temporary spray paint on the sidewalks of Davis Square, where they will remain on view after the festival is over.
